U10 v Hellingly 23rd February 2014

IMG_1831 Hellingly visited Buckingham Park after weeks where matches had all been rained off.  After playing out an excellent match earlier in the season at Hastings the two teams were keen to pit their wits against each other again.  Due to the growing Shoreham squad the home side were able to field two teams to make up a three sided tournament.

Shoreham Green  vs Hellingly

Hellingly started strongly, especially in the ruck, where the Shoreham Green team didn’t really get to grips with their opposition.  The tight play from the visitors secured them three tries while Green managed two from breakaway situations.  The good quality match finished 3-2 to Hellingly but featured some strong performances Shoreham boys is a less experienced team.

Shoreham Gold vs HellinglyIMG_1847

Shoreham Gold really took on Hellingly up front, working as a team to secure the ball.  This approach worked and accompanied by strong passing and direct running made this game a more one sided affair.  Tries came from different styles of attack and were shared across the team.  It was a strong performance from Gold to win 5-0.

Shoreham Green vs Shoreham Gold

The two Shoreham teams contested a scrappy game to finish the morning.  Plenty of turnovers and a lack of passing led to a game that wasn’t pretty but was probably a lot of fun to play in.  Two all was a fair result.

A good morning back up the park for the U10s, saw them get in some much needed match practice and play some good rugby.
