Shoreham under 8’s continue to make good progress.
Matched against the strong sides of Crowborough, Haywards Heath, Horsham and Tonbridge they played with good spirit and determination reaching the 3rd / 4th play off final.
Here they faced Horsham again, who had proved too strong for Shoreham in their group game,
but this was to be their strongest performance of the day pulling back from a first half 5-2 deficit to draw the tie 6-6.
A special mention must be made of Shoreham”s two debutants Zoe Greenwood and James Hendry who were a real credit to their new team.
The Hastings & Bexhill RFC Festival was the first competitive outing for some of the new Shoreham U8’s members including Luke Hartshorn and Benjamin Waterer, who both made significant match contributions with great tries and tagging.
Their first three games were close fought matches losing 7-8 to Lewes, 6-8 to Warlingham and 6-7 to Eastbourne. They were all fired up in their fourth game with a 9-4 victory over Worthing. Their final game was a re-match with Eastbourne, competing for third place. Despite playing some of their best rugby of the day, they lost 8-10 to Eastbourne.
The whole team were fantastic, with great teamwork and tagging on display. The following players scored some great tries:
A special mention must go to Thomas Molee for scoring an impressive 15 tries.
