Shoreham u11s travelled to Horsham to play against two of the strongest sides in West Sussex in the age group. Horsham and Pulborough are both regularly in the final stages of festivals and tournaments and this would prove to be a stern test for Shoreham, especially with a squad slightly depleted through injury.
Pulborough were first up and after their regular slow start Shoreham got into the match. An end to end affair could have gone either way with excellent play from both sides and regular scores. Pulborough eventually edged he match 5-4, with that slow start perhaps being the difference.
Our hosts were next and another tight game saw Shoreham control the play alot more and build play as a team. This time a sloppy end to the game with some crucial tackles missed resulted in a 3-2 loss.
The final match was again against Horsham and Shoreham were determined to end the day on a high. This result was never in doubt with power being allied to more passing giving Shoreham a commanding 5-1 win.
Mention should go to Samuel Kentell for some fantastic tackles, which were often try saving. Also to Louie Stillman , with 8 tries on the day, who is now regularly using his power and undoubted ability to drive the team forward.
With a little more control at crucial times, and with a full squad, this could have been a very different set of results. There was some excellent play and also some elements to work on for upcoming fixtures.
