U10 v Crawley 2nd March 2014

DSC_0118Shoreham turned up to play Crawley on a good, if small, pitch.  A long match was perfect practise for the festivals ahead and enabled all the squad to get some game time.

It was an excellent display by Shoreham dominating their opposition and regularly scoring tries.  Their teamwork at the breakdown was the best it has been all season and the tackling ferocious.

Crawley put Shoreham under pressure at times and the boys defence of their own line was superb.  In reverse, the green and golds regularly played right up on the game line and forced Crawley to retreat numerous times when in possession.DSC_0143

While there was little width to find Shoreham did get the ball wide at times, but it was a day for playing up the middle of the park and the strength and commitment of the team drove them forward.  Shoreham were excellent and were well worth the 10-1 win against decent opposition.

DSC_0148Excellent referring, especially on numbers in the ruck and maul, helped teach our boys a lesson, and enabled them to work on managing this part of the game as a team.

In fact one of the most pleasing aspects of today was the boys working out the game on their own.  Decision making is crucial at this level and rather than waiting for a bellow from the sidelines the boys were organising the team and the situation themselves.DSC_0254

DSC_0493In short that was really good – well done all.
